Dr Ray Johnson
Managing Director and Senior Agribusiness Consultant
From research scientist to CEO to company director, Ray has worked at senior levels in the industry for over 20 years and in the industry generally since 1983. That 33-year history gives him deep networks and people management experience.
He obtained his PhD from the University of New England and went on to be a Senior Research Scientist at the Victorian Department of Primary industries, before moving into a successful career in agribusiness. He has worked at senior levels in the agribusiness sector for more than 30 years, spanning the animal nutrition and health, stock feed, aquaculture, pet food and livestock genetic industries.
His previous posts include Chief Executive of the NSW Farmers Association and Chief Executive of Genetics Australia Cooperative, Australia’s largest livestock genetics company.
He is a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), and was previously a director of the Fisheries Research & Development Corporation (FRDC), the CRC for Innovative Dairy Products, the Australian Meat Processors Corporation and Horticulture Australia Ltd.
He was a member of the Research Advisory Committee of the Australian Farm Institute for seven years and has significant experience in national and international agriculture, comes from a farming background and currently owns a small mixed farm in northern Victoria.
